Material

Our Hexagon acoustic panels are made from high-density polyester fibers derived primarily from recycled PET bottles. Compared with mineral wool or fiberglass acoustic materials, PET felt panels do not release airborne fibers and can be safely handled, cut, and installed without protective equipment.

The most commonly used base materials for thermoforming hexagon panels are 9mm and 12mm PET felt panels.

What Makes 3D Thermoforming Different from Standard PET Panels?

Not every PET felt panel can be thermoformed successfully.

3D thermoforming is a structural manufacturing process rather than a simple decorative treatment. During high-temperature pressing, the PET panel undergoes controlled compression of approximately 40–60%. If the base density is unstable or fiber bonding is inconsistent, defects such as cracking, surface distortion, or edge fraying may occur.

Standard flat PET acoustic panels are designed mainly for sound absorption. In contrast, 3D thermoformed panels must provide both acoustic performance and structural precision.

For hexagon modules in particular, dimensional accuracy is critical. Even minor size deviation can affect pattern alignment when multiple panels are installed together.

This is why thermoforming quality starts with the base material manufacturing process. Stable density, consistent thickness tolerance, and strong fiber bonding ensure sharp geometric definition and reliable long-term durability.
